If you’re an experienced kayaker and have a 2-star certification (IPP2, BC2, EPP2, ACA2, or equivalent), we offer a variety of kayaks to suit your needs.

Important Note: To rent double kayaks, previous experience is required. For single kayaks, all renters must provide proof of valid 2-star certification. If you don’t hold a valid certification, we offer a 3-hour safety course. You can add that course in your rental.

Single Kayak Rental

We offer a range of single kayaks for all skill levels, from ocean play to expedition styles.

Design Kayaks: Unplugged

The Unplugged offers a perfect balance of speed and stability thanks to its medium length and width. Its low front and rear deck design provides amazing tracking even in windy conditions, while also allowing for unobstructed paddling to improve your skills. The Unplugged is easy to maneuver due to its shallow-V hull shape and medium rocker, providing a great balance between tracking and maneuverability.

Design Kayaks: Endless

The Endless is a fast and slim sea kayak that's perfect for longer tours. The low front and rear deck design allows for effortless paddling and efficient tracking, even in windy conditions. The kayak also features a carbon seat, an adjustable seat rest with a unique click system, and thigh braces inspired by whitewater kayaks, all designed for uncompromising comfort on long trips. It's a great option for those with some paddling experience, or those who enjoy a challenge.

Valley: Etain 17.5

The Etain is a high-performance kayak designed for both speed and maneuverability. Its longer waterline and neutral hull form provide stability and predictable handling, even when fully loaded. The kayak's responsiveness is enhanced by its widest point being at the paddler's hips, and its shallow V-shaped keel and moderate rocker balance speed with agility. Proven on major expeditions, the Etain is the ideal choice for paddlers seeking a fast, enjoyable, and expedition-ready kayak.

Seabird Expedition

The Expedition is available in two variants, an LV (low volume) and an HV (high volume) version. Both models are known for having very good stability, and you always feel a sense of security when paddling a Seabird Expedition. This means that many beginners choose this kayak. However, it is still a kayak you will greatly enjoy as you become more trained and experienced.

Double Kayak Rental

Our double kayaks are stable, fast, and perfect for longer trips with plenty of gear. They handle well in windy conditions and choppy water.

Boreal Design: Esperanto

The Esperanto is a fast and easy-to-paddle plastic tandem kayak that is stable and comfortable, even at higher cruising speeds. Its moderate rocker and large rudder make turning easy, and it has a center compartment that can be used for extra storage. The Esperanto's well-spaced cockpits allow paddlers to move at their own pace and help prevent paddles from hitting each other accidentally. This makes it ideal for paddlers of different skill levels, families with young children, and longer trips that require more storage space.

FAQs

Paddling a single sea kayak in Norwegian coastal waters requires a specific set of skills, especially concerning self-rescue and handling varied conditions. The Våttkort (or equivalent) is a national standard that verifies you have received professional training in these essential techniques. This is particularly important in our local fjords where the shoreline often consists of steep mountains, making it difficult to get to land except in a few specific locations. Our policy requires this certification to ensure your safety and to make sure you have the best, most enjoyable experience possible on the water.

For a double kayak, we require that both paddlers have been in a kayak before, are comfortable on the water, know how to swim, and can paddle effectively together. You should understand basic paddle strokes and feel confident in your ability to manage the kayak for the duration of your trip. Our staff may ask you a few questions about your experience to ensure the rental is a good fit.

Safety is our top priority. We constantly monitor weather forecasts. If we deem the conditions to be unsafe for paddling (e.g., high winds, thunderstorms), we will contact you to reschedule your rental or offer a full refund. We do not recommend paddling in high winds or thunderstorms.

Yes, we offer multi-day rentals for our single and double sea kayaks for experienced and properly equipped paddlers. Please contact us directly to discuss your plans, as multi-day trips require careful planning regarding routes, logistics, and camping equipment. For shorter, hourly rentals, we have self-service sit-on-top kayaks available at our base in Dørvika. Please note that these cannot be pre-booked.
