A four-day adventure in the Lysefjord, passing incredible fjords and sleeping under the stars and hiking famous Preikestolen.
You will stay all nights at our Norwegian cabin at a bay in the Lysefjord.
You don’t need any kayaking experience to enjoy this adventure – the guides are great at making it enjoyable and safe for all abilities. A moderate fitness level is suitable for the hike activity.
You’ll be picked up from Stavanger Airport at 12:00, and we’ll drive together to our cozy cabin overlooking the Lysefjord.
After settling in and a quick lunch, we’ll head out for a relaxed afternoon paddle on the fjord. It’s the perfect way to get familiar with the kayaks, stretch the travel legs, and get your first taste of the calm waters and dramatic cliffs of the Lysefjord.
In the evening, we’ll gather for a barbecue dinner and a warm welcome to the group an explain the itenerary in more detail. It’s a great time to get to know your guides and fellow paddlers, share stories, and enjoy the peaceful fjord atmosphere as the sun sets behind the mountains.
This trip includes all food, accommodation, equipment, and airport transfers.
After breakfast, we’ll get ready for a full day of paddling. We’ll go through some kayak basics and safety skills before setting off to explore deeper into the fjord.
Expect a full day on the water, with plenty of time to take in the stunning scenery, paddle beneath waterfalls, and—if we’re lucky—spot seals, sea eagles, or porpoises along the way.
We’ll bring lunch with us and stop at one of the quiet beaches or rocky islands along the fjord. In the afternoon, we’ll return to the cabin for a relaxed evening dinner and time to unwind.
Wake up to a slow morning with coffee and breakfast overlooking the fjord before we head out for today’s adventure—a hike to Vikastakken, a local favorite with breathtaking views of the Lysefjord and the surrounding landscape.
The hike usually takes around 4–5 hours including breaks, and we’ll take our time to enjoy the scenery from the top.
Back at the cabin in the afternoon, we’ll relax, light up the sauna, and take a refreshing dip in the fjord before dinner.
In the evening, we’ll gather for a wild cooking experience, preparing a dinner made from local ingredients—freshly sourced vegetables and local game such as deer—served in true Norwegian style.
After breakfast, we’ll head out for one last paddle into a new part of the fjord—a final chance to soak up the quiet beauty and say goodbye to the sea cliffs, waterfalls, and wildlife of Lysefjord.
After lunch, we’ll pack up and make our way back to Stavanger Airport, where you’ll arrive around 16:00, filled with memories of four unforgettable days on the fjord.
Below you’ll find the minimum gear required for this trip. You will need to pack your equipment in smaller bags in the kayak – you shouldn’t bring more than you can fit in a 60litre backpack, as we will also need space for common equipment in the kayaks (food, water, cooking equipment, etc.).
You will stay at a traditional Norwegian wooden cottage by the fjord. This home, which also includes an apartment in a building of an old sawmill, offers a tranquil retreat surrounded by nature.
The cottage has six bedrooms (three with two single beds and three with double beds), a large kitchen and living area, and a bathroom with a shower. The outside terrace overlooks the fjord, providing a perfect spot for relaxing evenings by the water.
Your cottage is surrounded by mountains, fields, fruit trees, and sheep in the summertime. The property has its own hydroelectric power and by that provides clean energy during your stay.
