WOW – Unforgettable experience with Nordic Paddling
Just returned from an epic trip with Nordic Paddling and our amazing guide Sebastian. During our 6 day trip we wild camped and kayaked from Forsand to Lysebotn along the beautiful length of the fjord. Sebastian was extremely knowledgable and patient – he took the time with each of our kayaks individually so that our techniques improved immensely over the week. All of the tips and tricks really helped with the longer stretches. Sebastian was super adaptable and able to tailor the trip to the group and weather conditions. We also had the chance to fish, forage and cook on the campfire, swim and spot seals along the way. A huge thank you for pushing me out of my comfort zone and introducing me to this stunning location. An experience I will never forget!!
Your journey begins at Engøyholmen Kystkultursenter. You’ll start by rowing a small old restored wooden boat, called a «færring,» across the narrow channel from the mainland to the isle Engøyholmen. Here, we’ll guide you through different eras of Stavanger history, from its foundation to the fishing and canning industry that put the city on the map before the oil era. This guided tour is located at the historical maritime museum on Engøyholmen.
With this rich knowledge at the back of your mind, and following a short briefing, we’ll depart on the main guided Stavanger kayak tour. The kayaking route takes us around the beautiful Stavanger City islands. On the tour, you will see different house structures, which are the old remnants of the fishing and canning industry. Throughout the trip, you’ll be treated to a spectacular view of the mountains and fjords in the distance , truly highlighting the border between sea and mountains.
