Guide: 4-Day trip Kayak & hike in Stavanger (August-September)
We’re looking for a guide who can run our 4-day kayak trips in Stavanger from August to September (a total of 9 trips). The trip is an “all-inclusive” where you pick up the customers from the airport and take them on 4 days of adventure. We will be staying in a cabin the first night, and wild camping the rest. You will be working 4 days in a row with 3 days off, until the next trip (Thursday/Friday to Sunday/Monday). Our customers will primarily be from the UK and Netherlands.
Your tasks will be:
Pick-up/drop-off customers at Stavanger Airport (using our van)
Buying necessary food ingredients for each trip
Guiding and cooking for the customers for the duration of the trip
Clean up / repair equipment after the trip
We expect you have:
Minimum NPF Aktivitetsleder or equivalent experience, e.g. USN’s Kayak 1 & 2.
Minimum 1 year of relevant outdoor education
Valid driving license class B
Fluent in a Scandinavian language and English
Prior experience with guiding
It’s an advantage if you have:
Good interpersonal skills / work well with others (team-player)
Valid first aid certification
Likes to teach / guide in nature
Good outdoor cooking skills
Can work under pressure
Experience from the outdoor/tourism business
Good interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
Customer focused and service minded
Always looking for improvement and high quality
What you can expect:
As a guide for Nordic Paddling you will be responsible for the trip you are assigned. Most of the time you will work alone or with 1-2 other guides. You will have influence on how the trips are run, with room for personal guiding-style. You will get industry competitive salary, and access to our multiple outfitter deals on kayaking gear (Kokatat, NRS & Werner) and outdoor equipment (MSR, Therm-a-rest, Seal Line & more). Those who are willing to commit multiple years, will be awarded our guide training program. Though this period is short, there’s an option to come back in 2021 for a full season (May-September).
