What's My Level?

Below you can see our difficulity scale, if you’re unsure of how to use it or any other questions just get in touch!

Easy

At this level, you’re a total beginner to kayaking. Our Introduction and Fundamentals courses are held at this level. The conditions are mostly flat water in a protected bay area. The main goal here is for you to learn the basics of sea kayaking. 

We’ll usually paddle 5-10km at a slow speed. 

Moderate

At this level, you don’t need any prior kayaking experience, you may have tried kayaking before, but it is not required. The conditions are mostly flat water, with wind up to 6m/s, and swell up to 50cm.

Your physical level of fitness is average and will have no problems completing 3-4 days with mixed activities. The “Hike, Kayak, and Camp on the Norwegian Fjords” is held at this level.

The length of the trips is 3-4 days. We paddle 10-15km each day.

Challenging

At this level, you’ve completed at Fundamentals course and hold a 2-star certification or equivalent experience. You know how to do the basic buddy- and self rescues. The conditions are 6m/s wind and up to 50cm swell.

Your physical level of fitness is good, you are used to being active, and will have no problems completing 4-5 days of mixed activities. The “Telemark Canal” trip and Intermediate course are held at this level.

The length of the trips is 4-5 days. We paddle 20-25km each day.

Hard

At this level, you’ve completed an Intermediate course and hold a 3-star certification or equivalent experience. You know how to do all rescues, and can roll the kayak on flat water. The conditions are up to 9m/s and up to 1,5m swell.

Your physical level of fitness is above average, and you’re used to long days in the kayak. 

The length of the trips is 5 days or more. We paddle more than 25km each day.
